Deans List
At the end of each Fall and Spring semester – and Summer session – a Deans List is prepared. Undergraduate students1 who were enrolled for and earned full-time credit2 at SIU during the term, and whose SIU term grade point average (GPA) for all courses during the term meets or exceeds the minimum SIU GPA established by the University,3 will be included on the Deans List for that term.4 Students so recognized will see a Deans List notation along with the term academic standing on their transcript.5
This University recognition of high scholastic achievement is only for that particular term, does not apply to part-time students, does not take into consideration transfer coursework, and does not take into consideration the cumulative GPA of the student for all coursework at SIU.
1 Undergraduate students may be taking SIU coursework on-campus, off-campus, and/or online.
2 Undergraduates are considered full-time in Fall or in Spring if they are enrolled in at least 12 credit hours, and full-time in Summer if they are enrolled in at least 6 credit hours. However, for purposes of Deans List determination, it is only those courses whose grades are included in the calculation of the GPA that may be counted toward the 12 hour or 6 hour minimums.
3 The minimum full-time SIU term GPA established by the University for undergraduate Deans List recognition is 3.50 for all undergraduate academic units (effective for the Summer 2014 term and subsequent terms). Prior to the Summer 2014 term, the minimum end-of-term full-time SIU term GPA needed for undergraduate Deans List recognition varied by academic unit.
4 The Deans List information noted here is for undergraduate students. There is no equivalent recognition for graduate students. For Law students, there is a similar recognition using criteria noted in the School of Law Rules and Honor Code, and such students will also see any such notation within SalukiNet.
5 When looking at a particular term on the transcript, both the official transcript obtainable from the Registrar's Office, as well as the "Unofficial Student Academic Record" viewable from within SalukiNet Self-Service, will display any such notation right before the list of courses for the term.
