Degree Works Degree Audit

Every degree offered at Southern has institutional requirements for residency, upper division hours, University Core Curriculum (UCC) and grade point average as well as those requirements needed to satisfy your major or minor. Degree Works helps you monitor your academic progress by allowing you to track your work toward each of these requirements in one place.

Students and their advisors can use Degree Works to quickly check their completed coursework against the requirements for their declared program, which are found in the undergraduate catalog. You can access Degree Works to view your degree progress from SalukiNet.

The Curriculum & Applications division is responsible for maintaining Degree Works as directed by the Master Course File, program requirements provided by each academic unit, and institutional requirements as approved by the Board of Trustees and Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE).

What does Degree Works do?

• Keeps track of the academic requirements for degree completion.
• Identifies courses you need, including prerequisites and co-requisites (courses you take at the same time).
• Keeps track of your individual course grades, cumulative GPA and major GPA.
• View how coursework could be applied toward another major, minor or concentration using the "What If" function.
• Verifies how transfer credit hours have been used to apply toward your degree completion.
• Keeps track of all the courses you have taken or transferred, and how many count toward your degree and elective credit.
• Helps you plan the courses you need for future semesters.
• Shows you options for how your courses can apply to a different major, minor or concentration.
• Shows the status of your application for graduation and verifies that your degree is awarded.
• Keeps “Notes” for critical courses that must be taken in a specific semester.
• Provides a chronological list of your previous transfer and residency coursework.
• Provides direct access to your academic advisor’s contact information.
• Features three different GPA calculators to aid you in achieving your academic goals.
