All degree-seeking students must apply for graduation to have their academic progress reviewed and ensure all requirements are met for degree completion. The application is required regardless of participation in Commencement and must be submitted by the deadline. No upfront payment is required; the fee is applied to students' Bursar accounts.
Graduation is the official conferral of a degree upon successful completion of all academic requirements, while Commencement is a ceremonial event recognizing this achievement. Participation in Commencement, held each May and December, does not guarantee the awarding of a degree. Eligibility for Commencement requires submission of a graduation application and payment of the graduation fee by the posted deadline.
