The Student Right-to-Know and Campus Security Act, passed by Congress in 1990, requires universities that receive federal Title IV funding to publicly share important graduation and completion rates. Each year, institutions like SIU must calculate and disclose these rates for full-time students seeking certificates or degrees. Additionally, if student-athletes receive athletic aid, universities must report graduation rates for both student-athletes and the overall student body to the Secretary of Education.
At SIU, these disclosures help students, prospective students, athletes, parents, and coaches make informed decisions about the educational opportunities and benefits the university offers.
