Banner Holds Help For Staff
While some holds on a student's record may simply provide information, most holds are posted by the University in order to require the student to take the action necessary to meet a policy requirement or financial obligation that has not yet been met. Some of the latter holds will prevent the student from receiving a copy of their academic transcript, while others will prevent the student from being able to do any registration adds, drops, or changes (both now and in the future).
Described in the table below are most holds now being used to require a student to take action. Students can see their currently-active holds within SalukiNet Self-Service, while their advisors can see active and inactive holds on SOAHOLD in Banner Admin Pages. Note that SalukiNet Self-Service will not list out the "code" values for the student, only the descriptions.
For convenience, if a student has an active hold that will prevent registration, their Must Do List within SalukiNet will give them such a warning.
A student who has questions about a hold should contact the "Originator" office noted on the hold shown in SalukiNet Self-Service (or else the office noted below). While a student should contact their academic advisor most specifically about the RM hold, the student's advisor may not be able to give the student precise advice on all of the other holds, so the student really should deal with the office that posted the hold. That way, the student will know exactly what they must do in order for the hold conditions to be satisfied and the hold to be taken down.
