Upcoming Graduation Deadlines & Ceremony Dates
Please note that most students applying to graduate can and should apply online within SalukiNet. After logging into SalukiNet, go to the Registrar - Academic Records & Graduation task center, then launch the Submit Your Graduation Application Online task to get started.
The online graduation application that is within SalukiNet requires the student to pre-pay the non-refundable graduation application fee with a valid credit or debit card during the application process. For more information, please be sure to read our detailed instructions on how to apply for graduation.
Once you have applied, you can track the status of your graduation application in SalukiNet by going to the Registrar - Academic Records & Graduation task center and launching the View Your Filed Graduation Application Status task.

The below calendar includes the most universally-applicable graduation-related deadlines. Some colleges or schools or departments may have additional specific deadlines that are not shown below, but that candidates in their units must adhere to. It is the responsibility of graduating students to be aware of and meet any other such deadlines or risk not being able to graduate on time.

1 Effective Fall 2023, all undergraduate and graduate degree candidates have three weeks from the end of their graduation application term to ensure that all degree requirements are complete and posted on their SIU academic record. (For Fall terms, this noted deadline is extended by one week due to the end-of-year University closure.) This includes – but is not limited to – all NR ("Not Recorded") course grades, any required INC ("Incomplete") or DEF ("Deferred") course grades, and any required work experience or proficiency credit. Undergraduates must also ensure by this three week deadline that complete official transcripts from any previous post-secondary institutions are on file with the Articulation and Evaluation office. If you do not meet all degree requirements by the three week deadline, it will be your responsibility to submit a new application with a new application fee by the application deadline for the future term in which you then plan to complete your degree requirements.

3 Because there is no August Commencement ceremony for Summer graduates, Summer graduates would normally attend a ceremony held in the following December. Some Summer graduates – but not Ph.D. students – will be allowed to attend a ceremony in the prior May per the Commencement Participation Policy, though such graduates would have to have their applications submitted by the "early walk" deadline noted (effective 2024, this is now the Friday of Week 6 of the preceding Spring term). Summer graduates who will attend in December or who will not attend any ceremony only need to have their applications submitted by the regular deadline noted.
4 Effective Spring 2024, for Fall and Spring graduation terms, the late graduation application submission deadline is now the Friday of Week 6 of the term.
