Audit a Class
If you want to audit a class (take it without earning credit), you must let the school know when you register or by the end of the second week of the semester (or earlier for shorter classes). For shorter courses, you need to register for the audit before the class starts.
You can't choose to audit a class in SalukiNet Self-Service. Instead, register for the class as usual, then meet with your advisor before the deadline to complete a form that changes your registration to audit. Law students need special approval to audit a course.
Auditing a class means you won't earn credit, but the course and grade will still show up on your transcript. You’ll pay the same tuition and fees as regular students, and you are expected to attend and do the work your instructor asks of you.
Waitlisting
Waitlisting is available for courses in several academic programs. Programs are not required to offer waitlisting, and those that do may offer it for only a portion of their courses.
To register for the desired section, navigate to the Register for Classes page on the main student Registration section within SalukiNet. Locate the course under the Action column, click the drop-down arrow, and select "Registered for Class." Then, click the Submit button. Upon successful registration, the course will display the actual number of credit hours in your schedule (no longer displaying zero hours).
You can monitor your Waitlist Position to see if you are getting closer to the top. An e-mail notification will tell you exactly how much time you have to make the registration adjustment.
Time Limit for Waitlist
Waitlists will be purged about a week before the official start of the term. For Winter Intersession and Summer Intersession courses, any waitlists will be purged about a week before the start of the Intersession.
If you are still on the waitlist when the waitlist is purged, you will be sent an e-mail (to your SIUC e-mail address) letting you know that it was purged and that you are no longer affiliated with the course. If the course is still closed at this point, permission from the instructor is needed and will require an override entered by the instructor or your advisor.
