The Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management, appointed by the Chancellor, oversees refund requests for withdrawals made after the specified period. Their decision is final. Students must provide proper documentation by the last day of the term in which they withdrew.

Request for Exception to Tuition and Fee Refund Policy due to Significant Financial Hardship.

Students experiencing significant financial hardship should consult with the Office of the Bursar (at 618-453-2221 or bursar@siu.edu) and the Financial Aid Office (at 618-453-4334 or fao@siu.edu) before withdrawing to explore potential resources for continued enrollment. If it becomes necessary to withdraw from the University as a result of a significant financial hardship, students may request consideration of a refund of tuition and associated fees that were not otherwise eligible for refund.

Requests for Refunds Outside of University Specified Time Periods

The following apply to all requests for refund of tuition and student fees in cases where withdrawal from courses occurs after the time periods specified in the University's refund policy. Refunds of tuition and student fees approved in such cases are made at the University's discretion.

The Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management is designated by the Chancellor to oversee the process for considering requests for refund of tuition and general student fees in cases where withdrawal from courses occurs after the time periods specified in the University's refund policy. The decision in all such reviews will be considered final. Students will be required to provide appropriate documentation to support their request by the last day of the term in which they withdrew.
